NEW DELHI: In a landmark verdict on the eve of national elections, the Delhi high court Friday indicted the Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress Party of receiving foreign funds in violation of provisions of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).  A division bench comprising Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Jayant Nath asked the government and the Election Commission (EC) to act against the two political parties for accepting foreign funds from Vedanta subsidiaries. It asked MHA and EC to "relook and reappraise the receipts of the political parties and identify foreign contributions received by foreign sources" and take action within six months.   In addition, the bench also faulted the Congress for taking donations from public sector undertakings State Trading Corporation of India and Metals and Minerals Corporation of India. Amethi: Aam Aadmi Party Amethi candidate Kumar Vishwas on Tuesday took a jibe at the Bharatiya janata Party candidate Smriti Irani and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi saying Amethi is sick of actors. This comes a day after the BJP decided to field Smriti Irani against Rahul and Vishwas in Amethi. "We don't care who the BJP or the Congress pitches against me. Amethi is already sick of a political actors. Rahul is a political actor. Now one more actor has joined the fray," Kumar Vishwas said. Meanwhile, Smriti Irani has accused the AAP of being hand-in-glove with the Congress. She said, "The fight in Amethi will be BJP vs Congress as the AAP is a B-team of the Congress." Tulsi to go on fast unto death (Times of India) Agencies  |  Dec 12, 2004, 06.21 PM IST NEW DELHI: Popular TV actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti 'Tulsi' Irani has threatened to fast unto death demanding the resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.  Irani will begin her fast on December 25, the birthday of BJP leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.   Irani, who unsuccessfully contested from Delhi's Muslim-dominated Chandni Chowk constituency in the April-May parliamentary elections, blamed Modi for BJP's recent electoral reverses.   Modi has been widely criticised for his handling of the 2002 communal violence in Gujarat, which killed more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims.   Asked by a television channel if she had the permission of senior BJP leaders for her move, Irani said: "Why do you think you need permission to do what you think is right. BJP is a democratic party."

The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the home ministry to take action in accordance with law against the Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), saying funds received by them from UK-based Vedanta Resources' subsidiaries violates laws. A division bench of justices Pradeep Nandrajog and Jayant Nath directed authorities to take appropriate action against the two political parties within six months. The verdict was delivered on a PIL by a NGO, Association for Democratic Reforms, represented by AAP leader Prashant Bhushan, which had alleged that the Ministry of Home Affairs in its reply has factually admitted the position that fundings came to these parties from Vedanta. The court had reserved its verdict on February 28 after hearing arguments on behalf the NGO, the Centre and both the political parties. BJP & their PM candidate recently claimed that Arvind Kejriwal is an 'agent of Pakistan' in India as AAP shows Kashmir as part of Pakistan on its official website, without actually bothering to check Aam Aadmi Party's official website. It seems they have done this on basis of manipulated reports about a non-official volunteer website which used an external API for showing donations trends on a map , where a part of J&K was not marked since there are no donations from that part of J&K. It would have served BJP PM candidate well to check India's Map on BJP's own website contact page where Kashmir region is indicated as disputed through dotted lines.  While its well known that countless BJP trolls do such senseless propaganda but one would expect official BJP channels & its PM candidate to be more responsible while making such claims atleast in the public domain. This report analyses the difference in the declarations made by political parties and their MPs on the lumpsum amounts granted and received as part of election expenditure during the Lok Sabha elections in 2009.  Out of 123 MPs to whom INC has declared to have given lumpsum amounts for election expenditure, 81 MPs have declared NIL amount received.  Shri Pranab Mukherjee who was given Rs. 15 lacs as declared by the party, has mentioned that no lump sum amount was received for his election expenses . The BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Mr Narendra Modi has made an unsuccessful attempt to mislead the people of Delhi by distorting and hiding facts about the imposition of President’s rule in the national capital.  Mr Modi, in his speech  on Wednesday  evening betrayed nervousness by presenting his half baked facts about the Delhi assembly and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Gujarat chief minister referred to Delhi being indirectly ruled by the Congress through its appointed Lieutenant Governor, despite having been routed in the December assembly elections and blamed the AAP for this situation.
