Delhi ACB chief MK Meena transferred to Andaman Nicobar

Delhi’s controversial Anti Corruption Bueau’s chief MK Meena has been transferred to Andaman Nicobar.

A notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs was issued on Tuesday to this effect.

The notification stated, “by cancelling his earlier transfer order to Arunachal Pradesh dated 08.04.2015. He be relieved on 01.04.2016.”

Meena, whose appointment as the ACB chief had drawn unprecedented controversy, was accused by Delhi’s AAP government of not working in accordance with law.

This came after officer S S Yadav, who was heading the ACB until Meena was brought in by the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, complained that he was being pressurised by Meena and couldn’t effectively discharge his duties.

ACB chief Meena has been a subject of several controversies since his appointment by the Delhi LG, Najeeb Jung.

Delhi Police (retired) inspector Jawahar Lal had filed a complaint with Kejriwal, accusing Meena of a scam worth Rs 20 lakh in a curtain purchase transaction during his tenure as the principal of the Police Training College in Delhi. The Delhi government has also moved the High Court in opposition to Meena’s appointment as ACB Chief.

On June 9, Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung had appointed Meena to head the anti-graft unit, displacing SS Yadav, an officer handpicked by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal himself.

The MHA notification has ordered the transferred of 25 senior ADGP, IGP and SP level officers.

They also include the DCP, South, Prem Nath, who was investigating Sunanda Pushkar’s alleged murder and JNU students’ protests.

The 2005 batch officer has been transferred to Mizoram.
